Is the Snowpiercer Movie Still on Netflix?
Snowpiercer is not on Netflix. Streaming rights for Snowpiercer move around, so use the box below for where to watch in your region. When I last checked, SBS On Demand listed the film in Australia, and Netflix Australia carries the first three seasons of the TV series.
What is the Movie Snowpiercer About?
It’s 2031 and instead of green grass and city landscapes, the world is a frozen sea of white. Everyone else on the planet is assumed to be dead and only the people aboard a futuristic train remain alive. The train is separated into zones and the back represents the have-nots. Like any revolution, the dream of a better life than the one they are lumbered with, a small faction makes a break for the front of the train, believing this is where they will find their freedom.
With a maturity rating of MA15+, there is plenty for those who dislike references to drugs, profanity, and tension. and hard-hitting violence to complain about. For the rest of us, you’ll definitely get an eyeful and earful during its 126-minute run time, which moves as fast as the train.
Who Wrote Snowpiercer?
The screenplay for the film was penned by Bong Joon Ho (who also directs) and Kelly Masterson which in turn was taken French graphic novel, The Snowpiercer (Le Transperceneige.) Jacques Lob and Jean-Marc Rochette are the authors of the three parts: The Escape, The Explorers, and Terminus.
Is Snowpiercer a Korean Movie?
It’s a South Korean production directed by Bong Joon Ho, and it was his English-language debut. Movie lovers who hate subtitles can relax, because about 85 percent of the dialogue is in English. A few characters speak Korean, French, Czech, German and Japanese, mostly in one-liners. The exception is Namgoong Minsoo, a central character who doesn’t speak English.

Snowpiercer Movie Verdict and Rating
The film is for lovers of science fiction dystopian stories. If we were to imagine a world on the brink of extinction and a bunch of politicians got together to counter Greta Thunberg. Maybe the only way they knew how to show her she was wrong was by blasting the sky with anti-global warming spray instead of proactive measures. Instead of being able to say “that’ll show her” the whole world turned to ice. The only survivors clambered onto a freeze-resistant train, which then went around on a continual loop. Nice one politicians and scientists… well done.
The film’s story is your basic revolution between the classes and one which has been brewing for around seventeen years (according to the mention of one character’s age.) Throw in a jaw-dropping cast that aligns somewhere between the best American cinema and the best Korean cinema and you have what you’d expect, a simply riveting and amazing film.
The characters are engaging, exciting, and dramatic. The action sequences are nothing short of spectacular and if you’ve been wondering how such a story would play out on a train of all things, then picture this scene. Opposing sides creeping from opposite directions and meeting in the middle with secrets, twists, and turns you really couldn’t dream up if you tried.
I really can’t recommend this movie enough.
It’s not already part of your film’s top ten, watch it and it soon will be.

The Snowpiercer 2013 movie is rated
5 Don’t argue with me about this not being perfect out of 5
A Perfect Revolution on Rails
Bong Joon Ho drops a class war onto a frozen-world train and never lets the engine slow. Hollywood and Korean cinema share the cast, the action comes one carriage at a time, and I’m not taking any arguments about it being anything less than perfect.
Will There Be a Snowpiercer 2?
There is no film sequel. The story carries on in the graphic novels, where a later volume, Terminus (2019), follows on from the film, and the film itself became a TV series instead.

What Happened to the Snowpiercer TV Series?
The series ran for four seasons. It premiered on TNT in the US on May 17, 2020, and landed on Netflix in many regions outside the US on May 25, 2020. Season 2 followed on January 25, 2021 (TNT) and January 26, 2021 (Netflix). Season 3 arrived on January 24, 2022 (TNT) and January 25, 2022 (Netflix), and the season 3 finale aired on March 28, 2022.
TNT cancelled the series in January 2023 with a completed fourth season that had never aired. AMC Networks acquired the rights to all four seasons in March 2024, added seasons 1 and 2 to AMC+ on June 1, 2024 and season 3 on June 8, and premiered the fourth and final season on AMC and AMC+ on July 21, 2024. Its ten episodes ran through September 22, 2024, and season 4 arrived on ITVX in the UK in February 2025.
Daveed Diggs and Jennifer Connelly lead the cast.
The series is set in a different continuity from the film, so you don’t need to watch the movie first, though I’d start there. Josh Friedman first adapted it for TV, with Bong Joon Ho as an executive producer, and Graeme Manson (Orphan Black, and a writer on Cube (1997)) later led the show.
